Study Pool Participation - ILP

ILP - Interview with teacher I reached out to one of my old teachers from St. Thomas Aquinas by email and I was able to ask and receive their answers on technology in the classroom. My high school is very advanced when it comes to technology. We used school-provided laptops, each classroom had smart boards, etc. It was interesting to see how one of my old teachers feels bout technology. What are different types of technology you have used in the classroom? Please list them! Platforms   such as laptops , mobile devices Software packages (such as Microsoft Office, Powerpoint), programs, apps (Kahoot, Blackboard) Display sevices  such as smart boards and video displays Audio  tools such as microphones, speakers. I was lucky to be one of the first teachers to use the smart board in my classroom. Students were very engaged and interested to learn about everything the smart board could offer. We learned together just what an amazing teaching tool it is....

As a teacher I could definitely use data collection and surveys in a classroom setting. Whether it is giving my students a quiz or a test, wanting to get feedback on something, or trying to gather information about something, surveys are always helpful. It is very useful that the surveys can be anonymous too. If I were an English teacher I could use surveys to get feedback on a book, give a quiz about questions in a book, or anything else I was teaching. Creating a survey is very easy and they are easy to share with others. I think they would be very useful educationally. Topics I found most interesting when reading my classmates blogs was honestly the fact that everyone has different opinions on how or why they would use a certain technology. It was really interesting to compare my own answers of the prompt to my classmates answers. For example,  when going to the tech sandbox I really enjoyed the virtual reality. But other classmates preferred the other types of technology. It ...

ILP Design- Prezi

I created a prezi that I would utilize in a classroom setting. I created a presentation for an elementary based class on learning adjectives. I used Prezi as my tool to create this presentation. https://prezi.com/view/RBnqbaRG5xGINrkw0fuo

A flipped classroom, as its name suggests, is a class where the lecture and homework have been reversed. In other words, the practice problems normally completed at home are worked on in the classroom, and the direct instruction normally given during class time is given as homework through video lectures, reading assignments, or some other direct instruction delivery method.  It is forcing teachers to reflect on their practice and rethink how they reach their kids. It is inspiring teachers to change the way they've always done things, and it is motivating them to bring technology into their classrooms through the use of video and virtual classrooms like Edmodo and similar tools. OER can offer drastic savings in the cost of education. Some of your students who otherwise cannot afford to buy expensive textbooks or other course materials will enjoy this affordable option when taking your course.  If an instructor opens his/her own course materials, and shares them with the publi...

I learned a lot of new skills while working with Diigo, especially skills that I did not previously have.  The organization of collected web articles and the possibility to collect data there within and put it in an so called "outline" is very nice. And over time you can create a very comprehensive collection of information from various sources into a single list. The integration into chrome and Firefox browser is great. You can also store pdfs and collect and organize information from within the pdf the same way you do with articles. Also the possibility to save and integrate photos from the web is great. A safe and solid working mobile app. This application can be very useful in the classroom because you can  share  things, collaborate on them (like annotating), and it is  not  hard to use.  Bloom’s taxonomy is a framework for educational achievement in which each level depends on the one below. It’s often depicted in the form of a pyramid—similar to ...

My experiences with Twitter so far have been really positive. I have been using Twitter as a form of social media since 2013. So far, with my use of Twitter educationally I have learned it's a good way to network and get in touch with many people. I think there are many benefits in being able to connect to people around the world. You are able to get opinions, ideas, and other things related on a wide scale. I am not experiencing any issues using Twitter because I have been using it for awhile now already. I love Twitter. By doing the Web Design assignment I learned how simple it can be to create your own website. This can be really helpful as a teacher if you were to be making a website for your classroom. With my website, I feel that if I had better knowledge of how to make a website and how to create it on my own, I would have to practice more. My website was not the best possible website but I think it still does the job well. I can improve it by learning how everything works...

- When looking at school websites, I went to my old middle school's page - Indian Ridge Middle School. I clicked onto an 8th grade math class website, and from there I am able to see the school address, the teachers contact, and upcoming events. Along with that, I can see the entire lesson plan and the day-to-day for her class. There is also a download section where I could download the class vocab. http://www.schoolnotes.com/xpages/view/69220 - I see myself using technology efficiently in an educational setting because I know how to use technology and I would definitely utilize it. I would use a website like Edmodo to create a classroom page and keep my students up to date on everything they need to know. It would make me more efficient as a teacher because I would be able to communicate to my students more directly. Also, it would encourage collaboration as a class because technology is very easy to use. Technology would definitely make me more efficient as a teacher. ...
